“School Talks” forum returns to Bruneau-GV

The first Bruneau-Grand View School District “School Talks” community outreach of the school year is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 20.
The program is a chance for patrons and parents to share thoughts with school officials.
In the first installment of the 2023-24 series — “New Leadership, New Initiatives” — the community will have a chance to meet Jonathan Waterlander, Rimrock Jr.-Sr. High School’s new principal.
“With new leadership at Rimrock comes a new culture,” the district’s School Talks announcement said. “In the school business, culture drives performance and outcomes.”
The School Talks event will take place from 6 p.m., to 7 p.m., at Rimrock, 39678 Hwy. 78, Bruneau.
Even though there is a set topic, stakeholders have the opportunity to talk about any school topics on their minds.
District superintendent Jeff Blaser and elementary school principal Alex Meyers also will be on hand.
The plan is to hold a new School Talks open meeting on the fourth week of each month during the school year except in December and May. The goal is to facilitate better communication with parents and community members.
Owyhee County Sheriff Larry Kendrick will make a fentanyl awareness presentation and the district’s drug and alcohol policy will be discussed during the Oct. 11 School Talks.
Other School Talks topics have yet to be determined, but the other meetings will be held on Nov. 29, Jan. 24, Feb. 28, March 20, and April 24.
