Homecoming comes to Homedale, Marsing next week

Years ago, Homedale and Marsing high schools were on-field rivals. Next week, the two communities will present dueling Homecoming celebrations.
Both football teams play at home on Friday, Sept. 22 for their Homecoming games, and students and staff at each school are bracing for all the fun throughout the week.
The Huskies play host to New Plymouth in a Homecoming game that doubles as the 2A Western Idaho Conference season opener.
The Trojans also open their 3A Snake River Valley conference campaign against Parma at Deward Bell Stadium.
Kickoff for both games is set for 7 p.m.
Marsing’s Homecoming festivities — themed “Marsing’s Got Game!” — begin Monday with the first of four dress-up days:
  • Monday — PJ Day: Students start the week with comfort.
  • Tuesday — Barbie and Ken: Students are asked to dress as their favorite version of the famous Mattel dolls.
  • Next Wednesday — Monochromatic: Everyone is asked to wear one color, but different shades are acceptable.
  • Thursday, Sept. 21 — Spirit Day: Wear Husky gear and blue and gold to show school pride.
The Marsing High Student Council selected the theme of board games for this year’s Homecoming.
Next Wednesday, the annual powderpuff football, volleyball, and class tug-o-war will be held. The volleyball action starts with the He-Man Game at 6:30 p.m., and the teachers and seniors will face off afterward.
The annual Homecoming parade will take place at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 21. It’s open to all school classes, clubs and organizations. The parade precedes the spirit rally, which will be held at the football field.
The Homecoming court will be announced after Thursday’s volleyball match against Cole Valley Christian. The varsity plays at 6:30 p.m.
The fun moves to the Ag building for the annual bonfire.
On Friday, Sept. 22, the royal court will be crowned at 6:30 p.m., a half-hour before kickoff.
The Spirit Week winners will be announced at halftime.
A black light Homecoming dance will be held in the cafeteria extension on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Additional details for the Homedale Homecoming week haven't been announced.
Traditionally, Homedale has its powderpuff games and the Snake Dance through town on the Wednesday of Homecoming week.
Class spirit games are held on Thursday of Homecoming week, and they are the precursor to the annual parade.
The Homecoming court will be announced and king and queen crowned prior to the football game on Friday, Sept. 22.
The volleyball Homecoming match is set for Thursday, Sept. 21 against Parma.
